According to news agency ANI, the Delhi Police Special Cell stated Friday that it had apprehended two suspected terrorists who were allegedly receiving training for "fidayeen" (suicide) strikes and that it had destroyed an ISIS cell.
Following a coordinated operation in Delhi's Sadiq Nagar and Bhopal, the accused, both named Adnan and from Bhopal, were taken into custody based on specific intelligence inputs, according to a senior police officer quoted by news agency PTI.
"The accused were linked to ISIS and were preparing a significant terror attack in Delhi, according to the preliminary investigation. They have been found in possession of electronic gadgets and incriminating materials," the officer stated.
According to authorities, the suspects are being questioned to determine the scope of their plans and their network.
The officer went on to say, "A potential terror attack in Delhi has been prevented by the arrests."
According to early reports, a cache of weapons and ammunition was found during the operation, and Adnan has been named as one of the individuals who was apprehended.
According to a senior official, a squad headed by ACP Lalit Mohan Negi and additional commissioner Pramod Kushwaha carried out the operation, according to The Times of India.
The demolished module is thought to have been motivated by ISIS and may have ties to Pakistan's ISI, which is accused of running these networks while posing as the Islamic State.
According to reports, authorities were still trying to track down the entire network and find further associates.
