Urmila Matondkar confirmed her acting comeback in 2022 with the Tiwari OTT series. There have been rumours that the project has reached a dead end and is at a standstill. In the movie Tiwari, Urmila plays Kalki, a woman who is released from prison after serving time for a crime she did not commit. Fourteen years later, she is now searching for the person who set her up.
"Tiwari was shot in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on a start-to-end schedule, and media reports suggesting delay in the project are all untrue," producer Utpal Acharya clarified. There haven't been any disagreements or conflicts with filmmaker Saurabh Varma. We want to release the series in February 2026, and it is presently in the post-production phase.
"The OTT platform is nearly complete, but I am not yet able to disclose its name. When everything is prepared on their end, the platform will quickly notify it. At first, we got seven 50-minute episodes, but the platform has already reduced it to fourteen 25-minute episodes. We couldn't make sudden cuts because it's a revenge-thriller drama, which is why the post was delayed," he added.
He said, "Urmila is kicked about the release," in reference to Urmila's professionalism. If her call time was 6 am, she used to be ready with hair and makeup (HMU) at 5:30 am.
After 27 years, Tiwari will also see Urmila reunited with her Satya co-star JD Chakravarthy.
