The cricket community is in grief after former India U-19 and Punjab medium bowler Amanpreet Singh Gill passed away in Chandigarh on Wednesday at the age of 36. As of yet, the reason of death is unknown. Gill, who played for Punjab in six first-class games and claimed 11 wickets, was Virat Kohli's U-19 teammate. In addition, he was a member of Punjab's senior selection committee after playing for the Punjab team (Kings XI Punjab) in the first Indian Premier League season.The Punjab Cricket Association said on X that it "deeply mourns the sad demise of Amanpreet Singh Gill, former Punjab cricketer and member, Senior Selection Committee, Punjab."We send our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones who have lost a loved one.

Yuvraj Singh, an all-rounder for India who won two World Cups, also honoured Gill.I was devastated to learn of Amanpreet Singh Gill's demise. He was a calm, diligent cricket player who loved the game, and we used to share the dressing room. My deepest sympathies to his loved ones. May you rest in peace. "Om Shanti," Singh wrote on X.
In 2007, Gill represented India in five Youth ODIs and one Youth Test.He took out former Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera in the lengthier format.
He was left out of the Virat Kohli-led India U-19 team that won the 2008 World Cup, though.
