To Lam, the president of Vietnam, is scheduled to make his first state visit to India from May 5–7. He was elected president earlier in April. The Ministry of External Affairs stated on Thursday that the president of Vietnam is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and have bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During his state visit next week, To Lam, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will be in charge of a high-level group of ministers and senior executives.
The MEA provided information regarding the bilateral meeting, stating that "Prime Minister Modi will hold wide-ranging discussions with President To Lam across the spectrum of bilateral relations as well on regional and global issues of mutual interest."It is anticipated that the two presidents would concentrate on strengthening trade and key technology relations, with a particular focus on increasing defence collaboration, particularly in the maritime sector.
According to the MEA, the visit commemorates the tenth anniversary of the agreement made during PM Modi's 2016 visit to Vietnam to elevate relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
On May 6, Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt will host a ceremonial greeting for the visiting leader, according to the MEA. Additionally, the president of Vietnam is anticipated to travel to Mumbai and Bodh Gaya.
