With a planned investment of about Rs 730 Cr, HCL Technologies (HCLTech) is scheduled to create its first company-owned artificial intelligence optimized data center in India in Bhubaneswar, which will significantly support Odisha's expanding technological economy.
Along with creating a Global Development Center (GDC), the project is anticipated to create about 6,000 highly skilled employment, enhancing Odisha's standing as a developing center for digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra are reportedly scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government on Friday. The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) has already approved the idea.

The next generation AI computing workloads will be supported by the integrated campus, which is anticipated to be built at Info Valley II in Bhubaneswar. It will make it possible for HCLTech to provide clients throughout the world from Odisha with cutting-edge AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, digital engineering, and enterprise technology services.
For HCLTech, which has up to now provided infrastructure, cloud transformation, and data center management services without owning a data center in India, the facility represents an important turning point. It comes after the company's recently revealed Rs 3,500 Cr investment plan to establish new subsidiaries in order to develop a dedicated data center business.In order to satisfy the quickly increasing demand for AI-driven computing and enterprise technology services, HCLTech intends to build a network with a capacity of up to 50 megawatts.Global demand for data centers is predicted to almost triple by 2030, with India experiencing even quicker development, according to the company's CEO, C Vijayakumar.
The investment enhances Bhubaneswar's rise to prominence as a center for digital infrastructure. The Reserve Bank of India is almost finished with its data center, while the National Informatics Center and the Odisha State Data Center are already located in the city. While the Odisha government is developing another next-generation facility, Adani Group has also revealed plans for a hyperscale data center in the city.
