The husband of the 28-year-old dermatologist Dr. Kruthika Reddy of Bengaluru, Dr. Mahendra Reddy, is accused of killing her by using his medical knowledge to give a lethal dose of anaesthetic in the name of therapy, according to the police.According to HT, Mahendra was arrested on October 14 after forensic reports revealed that she had received Propofol, a controlled anaesthetic, six months after her unexpected death was reported as natural.
A nameplate bearing the words "In Memory of Dr Kruthika M Reddy" currently hangs in front of her home in Ayyappa Layout, serving as a sombre reminder of a father's dashed hopes.
Her father, K Muni Reddy, who has subsequently given the property to ISKCON, was quoted by The Indian Express as stating, "I built that house only to see my daughter living happily with her husband and kids."
Following their May 2024 wedding, Kruthika Reddy and Mahendra Reddy have moved in together. She passed away inexplicably in April, less than a year later, after Mahendra purportedly gave her intravenous medicine for gastritis at home.
The family's darkest worries materialised six months later. According to forensic testing, Kruthika received a fatal dosage of Propofol, a potent anaesthetic reserved for use in hospital procedures.
