In a recent post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump claimed that China is "very happy" that he is "permanently opening" the Strait of Hormuz. The vital passage would never be shut again, he declared.
Additionally, the Republican leader stated in the article that China has promised not to provide Iran with weapons—a claim that conflicts with recent reports. Iran has been using Chinese spy satellites to find and target US military bases, according to the Financial Times, while CNN has reported that Beijing is getting ready to provide air defence weapons to Tehran. The permanent opening of the Strait of Hormuz makes China very delighted. I'm doing it for the world as well as for them.
But in recent days, China's Foreign Ministry has consistently denied that the nation is giving Iran any kind of military assistance.
The US administration claims that China has long helped Iran's ballistic missile development and provided dual-use industrial components that can be used to produce missiles.
In keeping with the tweet, Trump said that when he visits Beijing in May, Chinese President Xi Jinping will give him a "big, fat, hug"When I arrive in a few weeks, President Xi will give me a huge, massive hug. We are collaborating effectively and intelligently! That's better than fighting, isn't it? But keep in mind that we are far superior to everyone else when it comes to fighting, if necessary," Trump said on Truth Social.
On May 14 and 15, Trump will travel to China for a state visit with Xi; later, Xi will travel to Washington for a reciprocal visit. The most recent visit by a US president to China was made by Trump in 2017. Trump's visit will be the leaders' first face-to-face meeting since they reached a trade truce agreement in South Korea in October.
China denounces the US's port blockade of Iran
Xi promised Beijing will play a "constructive role" in fostering peace in the Middle East after China criticised the US on Tuesday of acting in a "dangerous and irresponsible" manner regarding its embargo of Iranian ports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press conference, "The US increased military deployments and took a targeted blockade action, which will only exacerbate tensions and undermine the already fragile ceasefire agreement and further jeopardise safety of passage through the Strait (of Hormuz)."This is reckless and deadly behaviour," he continued.
