Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) announced on Monday that it had secured a 10-year marine services contract for Argentina's first LNG export, expanding its global marine services footprint, entering South America, and strengthening the growing energy ties between Argentina and India.
After a worldwide competitive tender procedure led by Southern Energy SA (SESA), the contract was given to APSEZ's step-down subsidiary, The Adani Harbour International FZCO, through a consortium with Argentina-based Meridian Group, according to India's largest integrated transport utility.

With an expected investment commitment of $70 million, the Adani Group-Meridian venture will provide naval services for the Southern Energy FLNG project.
Argentina's first operational LNG export project is anticipated to produce 2.45 MT of LNG yearly in its initial phase, or roughly 28 cargoes annually.This project demonstrates our expanding capacity to assist major energy infrastructure projects in many regions. Ashwani Gupta, the full-time director and CEO of APSEZ, stated, "We bring deep operational expertise to complex maritime environments with marine operations in 12 countries and a growing fleet of marine assets supporting ports, LNG terminals, national oil companies, refineries, and offshore facilities."

"We are helping create reliable maritime ecosystems that enable new energy trade corridors and strengthen long-term supply resilience," he said, combining these skills with solid local connections.
As per the deal, the consortium will offer complete marine services, such as supply support and crew transfer services, offshore logistics, and tugboat operations for LNG vessels.
With agreements in place to support exports of up to 10 million tonnes (MT) annually to India starting in 2027, Argentina is becoming a significant new supplier of LNG.
It is anticipated that the Southern Energy FLNG project will be crucial in linking this expanding supply base with international demand hubs. According to the business, the scope will be backed by one crew boat, one anchor handling tug supply vessel, and four high-specification tugboats.
