As the BCCI prepares a two-team structure for Twenty20 Internationals, Shreyas Iyer is in line to be captain.

The talent pipeline in Indian cricket has allowed the selectors to think creatively. The Indian Board of Control for Cricket intends to develop a 30-35 player pool that can field two competitive T20 teams at the same time, as the IPL continues to produce match-ready players. India has overlapping international obligations later this year, including a T20 series against the West Indies and the Asian Games, so plans beyond a single core group must be made right away.

A BCCI official told NDTV, "The Asian Games and India vs West Indies T20 Series are going to be at the same time. So we have to look at two T20 teams playing. It is important from now to have a pool of 30-35 cricketers who can be called up for International assignments. For the upcoming Ireland tour, like most tours to UK, a bigger pool of players will be kept in the squad. This will extend for the Asian Games."

Since cricket is now included in multidisciplinary sporting events, such as the 2028 Olympic Games, the Board is actively preparing for parallel duties both this year and in the future. Depth, adaptability, and preparedness are emphasised. These are the attributes that are becoming more and more necessary in a busy worldwide schedule.
It is anticipated that the forthcoming trip of Ireland will act as a testing ground. These kinds of tours have historically been employed to kill fringe performers. In keeping with the long-term goal of a wider talent pool that continues through the Asian Games, this tour may now include a larger group. Although the tournament schedule has not yet been confirmed, India is also scheduled to play Afghanistan in a three-match Twenty20 International series in September.

The IPL's increasing importance is reflected in the names under consideration. With their courageous strokeplay, players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Priyansh Arya, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi have drawn the attention of selectors in the batting department. The selectors are also keeping an eye on players like Ayush Badoni and Rajat Patidar.
Players with variety and adaptability like Anukul Roy and Shashank Singh may have opportunities in the all-rounder spot, which is frequently the foundation of T20 balance.
There is a mix of young and experience when it comes to bowling. While Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma, Kartik Tyagi, and Khaleel Ahmed (depending on availability) provide them with speed options, Ravi Bishnoi remains a standout in white-ball cricket.

Dhruv Jurel is one of the top candidates behind the stumps. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Punjab Kings, will probably be leading the team.
Indian cricket is getting ready to make use of the enormous pool of young players that the IPL is producing in order to create a parallel force that can win and defend titles. It may soon become essential to have two good T20 teams in order to meet the demands of international cricket and deal with the difficulties of altered international fixtures.
This IPL season, it serves as a reminder to all young people that the BCCI is searching for the best 35 players, not only the top 15.
