Ash cloud drifts toward India as volcano erupts in Ethiopia, DGCA issues advisory

According to reports, the volcanic ash from Ethiopia's Hayli Gubbi has affected airspace over regions of West Asia by drifting towards western and northern India. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a safety alert to all airlines in response to the reports.
Due to ash plumes, numerous flights were canceled by airlines on Monday, including Akasa Air, IndiGo, and KLM.
Additionally, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai issued a Passenger Advisory encouraging travelers to verify the status of their flights by contacting their individual airlines prior to departing for the airport.
Airspace above portions of West Asia has been impacted by an Ethiopian volcanic eruption, which could impair certain international routes.Air India said that there has been "no major impact" on operations thus far, while IndiGo said they are "closely tracking the situation."
The eruption halted around 8:30 am UTC on Sunday, according to the Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC), but the ash plume is still moving in the direction of northern India.
For the first time in 12,000 years, the volcano erupted in Ethiopia's Afar region on Sunday, sending ash clouds up to 14 kilometers into the sky.
