Awarapan 2 vs. Lahore 1947: Emraan Hashmi and Sunny Deols Films Will Face Off at the Box Office on Independence Day in 2026

With the release of Awarapan 2, over twenty years after the cult classic, Emraan Hashmi is ready to excite audiences. The eagerly awaited sequel, which is directed by Nitin Kakkar and was confirmed by Mukesh Bhatt to be released in May or June without being postponed by Dhurandhar 2, is scheduled to debut on August 14, setting it up for a successful Independence Day weekend.
The release date was formally announced by the producers on Tuesday.
Awarapan 2 is slated to open just one day after Sunny Deol's film Lahore 1947, therefore the major announcement also sets the ground for a box office battle. Lahore 1947, supported by Aamir Khan, will hit theatres on August 13.

"Keep yourself FREE this Independence Day weekend and join us on 14 Aug 2026, Awarapan 2 in Cinemas," the film's creators said on Instagram to share the release date.
Disha Patani plays the female lead in Awarapan 2. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the film is written by Bilal Siddiqui, who most recently worked on Aryan Khan's directorial debut, Ba***ds of Bollywood.
