Bollywood actor Aamir Khan discussed the difficulties facing the Odia film industry at the Goa International Film Festival. Actor Manoj Mishra informed Bollywood star Aamir Khan about the lack of movie theaters in Odisha and the difficulties in releasing Odia films in the State during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, raising concerns for the Odia film industry.
During the conversation, Mishra described how the lack of operational theaters forced him to release Mindgame in communities throughout Odisha.
"We have many talented actors, directors, and technicians," he declared. He went on to say that Odias wants their movies to be seen by people all over the world, just as Aamir Khan expressed interest in the Oscars to provide Indians opportunities abroad, but "there is not much faith in us."
"When I screen a movie in an environment without air conditioning or fans and the audience is still watching it while drenched in perspiration, it means that I made a good film," Mishra continued. Indian films will not only be shown in festivals but will also generate revenue if individuals like Aamir Khan help independent filmmakers like us.
Aamir Khan Reacts
After hearing Mishra's concerns, Aamir Khan stated that national attention is being paid to the issue. "The Government of India is looking into that seriously," he declared. Theaters would benefit greatly if they were built in every state.
According to insiders, the conversation brought attention to long-standing issues in the Odia film industry, specifically the scarcity of exhibition venues and the restricted prospects for wider distribution.
