In a momentous political development, former Balasore MP Rabindra Jena resigned from the Biju Janata Dal's (BJD) primary membership on Tuesday.
Jena handed over his resignation letter to BJD supremo and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
In his letter, Jena claimed that he has decided to leave the party owing to personal reasons and circumstances. He also requested that he be promptly freed of all party-related tasks.
While announcing his decision, the former MP expressed gratitude for the long ride he had with the BJD. Jena remarked that his long-standing involvement with the party will be remembered.Rabindra Jena represented the Balasore Lok Sabha constituency and was a senior member of the BJD in the region. His resignation has aroused debate in political circles regarding the potential reasons for his abrupt departure from the party.
Jena is set to join the BJP on Wednesday. According to sources, Jena may officially join the BJP at the party's state headquarters. Discussions are underway about having various public figures and supporters accompany him during the joining programme. Jena had long been disgruntled with the BJD and had stopped participating in party activities."I, Rabindra Kumar Jena, former Member of Parliament and former District President of BJD, Balasore, hereby submit my resignation from the Biju Janata Dal's primary membership today." I have been a disciplined member of the Biju Janata Dal for many years, trying to develop the party and serve the people of Balasore. However, due to personal reasons and circumstances, I have made the tough decision to leave the party," Rabindra Jena wrote in his resignation letter.
"My long involvement with the party will always be a memorable experience for me.During this time, I would want to convey my heartfelt gratitude to the state leadership, my colleagues, and all of the party workers in the Balasore district for their encouragement, respect, and opportunity. I respectfully request that you accept my resignation and quickly free me of all party responsibilities," it continued.
