According to reports, a 32-year-old lady in Panipat, Haryana, killed three females in the previous two years because she "hatred for them due to their beauty."
The authorities claim that Poonam, the lady who killed her three-year-old kid in order to avoid suspicion, was related to all three deaths.
The accused seems to be a psychopath, according to Panipat Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhupender Singh. She informed the police that she was afraid the girls would outgrow her in terms of beauty.
The SP disclosed, "Jo sundar bachhiye hain unse inko nafrat si hai (She harbored hatred for beautiful girls)."

The SP cited the woman as saying that as soon as she saw a beautiful girl, she would get envious that the child would grow up to be more beautiful than her ("usko chidd machti hai kahi bade hokar issay sundar na ban jaye").
"After her marriage, she indulged in such things. She appears to be a psycho type. She is not very educated," added the police officer.
In all the cases, the woman would drown the victims in water-filled tubs or tanks to pass them off as accidental deaths.

The three killings
Poonam told the police that she had drowned her sister-in-law's nine-year-old daughter in a water tank at her home in Bhawar village, Sonipat, in 2023, according to PTI. Fearing that her family might suspect her, she had slain her own 3-year-old son, Shubham, too.
She is accused of drowning her cousin's six-year-old kid in a Sewah village water tank in August 2025.Her latest victim was her six-year-old niece, whom she killed at a family wedding by submerging her head in a tub in the house’s cellar, according to authorities.
The investigation into the girl’s death unravelled the woman’s alleged wrongdoing, leading to her imprisonment. Her claimed psychopathic behavior was further illuminated by the interrogation.
