Holi turns tragic in Odisha as nine drowned during celebrations

In Odisha, what was supposed to be a day of joy and celebration turned tragic on Wednesday when multiple drowning occurrences were recorded from various sections of the state during Holi celebrations.
One person was reported missing after being carried away by powerful currents, and at least nine individuals died. The majority of the occurrences happened when people played with colors and then went to bathe in rivers and canals.
In Jajpur, two deaths were reported.
Two people died in two different instances in the Jajpur district. While taking a swim at Digambarpur's Brahmani River, a minor drowned. A young person drowned in the Kharasrota River while taking a swim with friends after Holi celebrations in another incident that occurred within the boundaries of the Jajpur Road police station.Small Drownings Close to the Badamba Bridge
A youngster drowned while bathing after playing Holi in another terrible event that was reported close to the Badamba T-bridge in Cuttack. Locals were horrified by the unexpected accident, and the festive mood soon gave way to mourning.
Young People Die in Bhubaneswar's Canal
In a different occurrence, a young man drowned in the Puri Main Canal close to Madhuban hamlet, which is inside the boundaries of the Barang police station. He was allegedly taking a swim in the canal when the tragedy happened.
Similar Incidents Are Reported by Other Districts
Champua in the districts of Keonjhar and Jagatsinghpur reported two more deaths linked to Holi disasters, adding to the growing number of sad events that occur during the celebration.One young person is still absent.
Meanwhile, a young person in the Aul area of Kendrapara district vanished after being carried away by the powerful Kharasrota River current. There is a search going on to find him.
Grief Overshadows Celebration
Many families in Odisha experienced sadness as the festival of colors came to a close due to a number of tragic events that clouded the festivities.
