IMD reports that Cyclone Ditwah is a red alert in several areas of Tamil Nadu and is expected to make landfall tomorrow.

As cyclone "Ditwah" slowly proceeded towards the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast on Saturday, a red alert was issued for portions of the state, Puducherry, Kerala, and Telangana due to the possibility of waterlogging, heavy rainfall, and strong winds.
The cyclone, which is now hovering near Sri Lanka and the southwest Bay of Bengal, is predicted to get a little stronger, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
"Ditwah" Cyclone
The cyclonic storm "Ditwah," which was circling coastal Sri Lanka and the nearby southwest Bay of Bengal, moved north-northwestward and is predicted to reach near north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the adjacent south Andhra Pradesh coasts by early morning on November 30, according to IMD's most recent bulletin.

By the morning of the 29th, we anticipate it leaving Sri Lanka and entering the southwest Bay of Bengal. IMD chief Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra told ANI that there might then be a small escalation.

Tamil Nadu rainfall warning
According to the IMD's bulletin, there would be light to moderate rainfall in a few locations, heavy to very heavy rainfall in many other locations, and extremely high rainfall in isolated areas over coastal Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert for Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Puducherry because of the potential for exceptionally heavy rainfall.
From Saturday morning to Sunday morning, strong winds with gusts of up to 90 kmph are predicted along and off the beaches of Puducherry and north Tamil Nadu.According to IMD, as the cyclonic storm moves closer to the shore on Sunday, exceptionally heavy rainfall is also predicted for Puducherry and north coastal Tamil Nadu.

"Localized flooding and inundation may result from this rainfall. Flooding can happen, particularly in cities. Flash floods can also happen in steep regions, according to the IMD chairman.
He added that the cyclonic storm's powerful winds could uproot trees, harm hoardings, and have an impact on mud or thatched homes.
Additionally, standing crops such as horticulture, floriculture, and vegetables—especially those in the ripening stage—are predicted to sustain "significant damage" from the storm.
Following this, it is anticipated that rainfall would progressively drop to light to moderate levels in many locations, with isolated areas experiencing heavy rainfall on December 1.Other southern states are under a rainfall alert.
According to the IMD advisory, there will probably be mild to moderate rainfall in many areas and heavy rainfall in a few isolated locations on Saturday in Kerala.
On Saturday, light to moderate rainfall is predicted in most areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh (Yanam and Rayalaseema), with heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few locations and extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas on Sunday.
On Sunday, Telangana is likely to get light to moderate rainfall in a few locations and severe rainfall in a few isolated areas.
