In 18 months, Odisha has signed 191 industrial Memorandums of Understanding: 24,000 employment are anticipated with an investment of more than 1.37 lakh crore.

Odisha Industries Minister Samapad Swain submitted a comprehensive written response to the state assembly on Friday, including the state's industrial pledges, Memorandums of Understanding, key steel plant advancements, investment goals, and current land acquisition procedures.
The response was given in response to queries posed independently by MLAs Dhruva Sahu, Badri Narayan Patra, and Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
In 18 months, 191 industrial memorandums of understanding were signed.
In response to Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said that during the past 1.5 years, the government has inked 191 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with industrial enterprises.

He pointed out that while the MoUs cover a variety of industries, steel, metals, minerals, and downstream industrial activity account for a sizable portion. Updates on the status of large steel factories that are either in operation or are being proposed throughout the state have also been documented, Swain told the House.
The 6 MTPA Steel Plant of JSW in Keonjhar
In response to MLA Badri Narayan Patra, Swain affirmed that JSW has obtained permission to establish a 6 MTPA integrated steel factory in the Keonjhar district's Patna block.
According to the Minister, the project has an investment objective of Rs 35,000 crore and is anticipated to generate about 8,000 direct and indirect jobs.

He also mentioned that JSW had applied for land acquisition in 12 villages under Patna tehsil to the Keonjhar district administration. The House has been informed of the status of these applications by the administration.
According to the response, the project is classified as a large-scale industrial investment and is presently being tracked for advancements in land mobilization, regulatory permissions, and preliminary ground preparation.
The 24 MTPA Mahakalpada Plant of Nippon Steel-Mittal
The Minister informed MLA Dhruva Sahu that the Mittal Group and Japan's Nippon Steel had been given permission to build a 24 MTPA integrated steel plant at Mahakalpada in the Kendrapada district.He also mentioned that JSW had applied for land acquisition in 12 villages under Patna tehsil to the Keonjhar district administration. The House has been informed of the status of these applications by the administration.
