Indian nannies in Sharjah are paid "slavery wages" and are not entitled to holidays: "She is not fluent in English."

The difficult working circumstances that certain domestic workers in the United Arab Emirates endure have been brought to light by a Reddit post. An Indian woman who works as a live-in nanny in Sharjah was described in a post that a user shared about their aunt's experience.
According to the Redditor, his aunt's monthly income is only about 1,050 dirhams (₹25,000), and she has very little personal freedom and no weekly vacation.

An extensive list of tasks
The Redditor claims that the woman, a South Indian who does not understand English, takes care of the family's two children, manages all housework, and prepares all of the family's meals. In Sharjah, my aunt works as a live-in nanny. She cooks all the meals, does all the housework, and looks after the two children. She apparently doesn't have any regular days off despite her busy schedule. She is actually expected to work the entire month and does not receive any weekly breaks. The employers "may allow 1–3 hours once a month" when she asks for time off to visit her family.
