"India-Nepal Ties Will Scale New Heights": PM Modi congratulates Balen Shah

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated RSP leaders Rabi Lamichhane and Balendra Shah on the formation of Nepal's new administration. In a phone chat, PM Modi expressed India's commitment to collaborating for mutual prosperity, progress, and well-being.Congratulations to both leaders on their electoral triumphs and the RSP's great success in the Nepal elections. PM Modi wrote on X, "I conveyed my best wishes for their forthcoming new government and India's commitment to work with them for mutual prosperity, progress, and well-being of our two countries."
Nepal's House of Representatives (HoR) has 275 seats. While 165 members are elected by the First Past The Post (FPTP) or direct voting system, 110 are elected using proportional representation.So far, the results of Nepal's 161 out of 165 seats in the general election have been declared via direct voting. The verdict of the remaining four seats is expected to be announced shortly.
Under proportional voting, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) received 4049,604 votes, followed by the NC at 13,60,281, the CPN-UML 1150,679, the NCP 591,940, the Shram Sanskriti Party 291,965, the Janata Samajwadi Party 1,16,463, and the Rastriya Parivartan Party 276,931.

With more than 40 lakh votes under the proportional representation system, the RSP is poised to win at least 40 more seats, bringing its total to about 164 seats in the 275-member House of Representatives, much exceeding the 138 required for a simple majority, according to political observers.
