Land & property transactions are fueling India’s economy in huge way, says DoLR Secretary Manoj Joshi

Secretary of the Department of Land Resources(DoLR) Manoj Joshi today claimed that land and property transactions are fueling India’s economy in a huge way. He was speaking at the Ministry of Rural Development's National Symposium on NAKSHA, or the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations and Land Stack, in New Delhi.
The symposium, a specialized forum inside the GeoSmart India 2025 Conference and Expo, focuses at accelerating the adoption of geospatial technology to change urban land records and boost citizen services across the nation. The Secretary emphasized that the time has come to fully rely on rovers to create drawings for real estate purchases and sales. He recommended that only Geographic Information System maps be used for real estate transactions.

Key policymakers, subject matter experts from the Survey of India, representatives from State Revenue and Land Records, and business executives convened for six crucial hours of intense discussions. The event promotes replacing antiquated methods with transparent, citizen-centric digital land administration.
