Lee Jae Myung, the president of South Korea, began a three-day state visit to New Delhi on Sunday. President Lee and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung were greeted at the New Delhi airport by Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra.
According to Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the South Korean President's visit to India represents a "significant turning point" in the development of the two countries' Special Strategic Partnership.
As H.E. President Lee Jae Myung of the Republic of Korea arrives in New Delhi on a State Visit to India, we extend a hearty greeting to him. President Lee is visiting India for the first time, Jaiswal wrote on X.

"Shri Harsh Malhotra, MoS, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, welcomed President Lee. He continued, "The visit represents a significant turning point in the development of the India-South Korea Special Strategic Partnership."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President Lee to visit India for three days.
On Monday, he will meet Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi. The two leaders will discuss ways to improve bilateral cooperation in a number of areas, such as shipbuilding, trade, investments, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, critical and emerging technologies, people-to-people connections, and cultural exchanges. According to the MEA, they will also talk about matters of mutual interest on a regional and global scale.In celebration of the visiting leader, PM Modi is also planning to organise a lunch.
President Droupadi Murmu and President Lee will also have discussions. Additionally, Rashtrapati Bhavan will hold a feast in President Murmu's honour.
S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, will visit the president of South Korea.
On Monday, President Lee will also honour Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.
"India and the ROK have a complex relationship based on shared values of democracy and the rule of law as well as old civilisational ties. According to the MEA, President Lee's visit highlights the two nations' common goal of strengthening their current areas of cooperation while extending cooperation in new and developing areas of shared interest.

On the fringes of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg last November, PM Modi met with the president of South Korea. After their discussions on the fringes of the G7 Summit in Canada, this was their second meeting in 2025.
"I had a great encounter at the Johannesburg G20 Summit with President Mr. Lee Jae-myung of the Republic of Korea. Our Special Strategic Partnership has a lot of momentum, as evidenced by the fact that this is our second meeting of the year. After the meeting, PM Modi wrote on X, "We shared ideas to strengthen our economic and investment ties."
