Noreen Niazi, the sister of PTI founder and former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, cautioned that supporters getting ready to assemble outside the Islamabad High Court were putting themselves in danger similar to previous crackdowns, pointing out that previous protests, such as the May 9, 2023, disturbance, had resulted in fatalities.
She stated in an exclusive interview with ANI, "Many people were shot during the previous major rally. Their corpses were concealed.
She stated that she has personally seen security forces targeting people, specifically referring to the events of May 9, 2023. "I was there on May 9th when these individuals used snipers to target members of the public. Children were shot in the head.
She pointed out that fans continued to demonstrate in support of Imran Khan in spite of revisiting these violent reports. "Yet his supporters are getting down the streets even today," she stated, attributing this tenacity to the former prime minister's determination in spite of his detention.
She said he was under tremendous strain. "Imran Khan is being tortured so that he would say, 'Spare me, I am leaving the nation', as Nawaz Sharif or Zardari did before him."
Niazi emphasized what she claimed was her brother's deeper purpose while drawing a gap between him and other political figures. "However, these individuals are unaware that Imran Khan is a leader and those were politicians. He is not your typical politician. "He wishes to change this nation," she stated. His political stature went beyond holding public office, she continued. "These individuals believe that Imran Khan aspires to be prime minister. However, Allah has given him a level of esteem in Pakistan that far beyond that of a prime minister."
She claimed that despite being detained for a long time, he had remained unwavering. "He says that he will never make a deal even if he is kept in jail all his life," she continued.
Niazi continued by saying that despite supporters' willingness to mobilize in response to his appeal, he had cautioned them against it because of the risks. "In order for them to take to the streets, his fans have requested that he make a call. However, Imran Khan has advised them against doing so because these individuals have already killed protesters and will fire this time as well.
In the midst of these remarks, growing rumors concerning Imran Khan's health surfaced on social media and in other countries. However, authorities and PTI leaders denied these rumors, claiming that the imprisoned leader was stable and getting regular medical attention, according to Dawn.
After Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was once again refused a meeting with Imran Khan—the seventh time since he took office—PTI activists staged a sit-in outside Adiala jail, deepening the uncertainty. Additionally, his sisters and attorneys were not allowed to see him, which fueled rumors about a possible transfer to a different facility and unconfirmed claims about his condition.
As "Where is Imran Khan?" trended extensively on X, these rumors gained momentum after being reported by foreign media, including a Japanese daily.
Imran's son Kasim called on international organizations to "demand proof of life, enforce court-ordered access, end this inhumane isolation" in a statement issued by the PTI.
Rana Sanaullah, who advises the prime minister on political matters, responded to the rumors by telling ARY News that Imran was in good health and under the care of a medical staff that was in charge of his "medicine, diet, facilities [and] exercises". According to him, the PTI founder was still incarcerated at Adiala with all the amenities suitable for his status.PTI's Ali Zafar denied the scary assertions as unfounded in Dawn's reporting, but he emphasized the urgent need for a meeting so the party could personally confirm his condition.
Another PTI official cited by Dawn said that attempts had been made to create confusion through "news from Afghanistan," but emphasized that these allegations had been refuted. In his words, "the government cannot harm Imran Khan."
Talal Chaudhry, the Minister of State for the Interior, told Geo News that Imran's health information had already been supplied by jail officials.
PTI legislators stepped up their efforts within Parliament. Faisal Javed said during Senate proceedings that Imran Khan was being held in solitary confinement and denounced the ongoing lack of access to his family, attorneys, and physicians, stating, "This is against basic human rights, court orders, the jail manual and prison rules."
Chaudhry retorted that all visits were subject to prison rules and that Imran was a VIP prisoner with access to workout equipment and a personal cook.
PkMAP leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai visited the demonstration to show solidarity with KP Chief Minister Afridi's sit-in outside Adiala jail.Afridi, who recently assumed leadership of the KP government, was stopped by police at the "factory naaka" while traveling to Rawalpindi to meet Imran Khan. He subsequently asked for a written explanation of the rejection, but his request was denied.
In a later interview with reporters, he stated that he had tried every legal and political option to gain access and that he wanted to meet Imran in order to get "actual information" that he could then share with the public.
