A 54-year-old lady from Purushottampur in the Ganjam district tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, marking Odisha's first Covid-19 case of the year. The woman is presently receiving care at Berhampur's MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
The Covid-19 patient's status is stable, according to MKCG superintendent Prof. Sudeepa Dash, who confirmed the development. Since the virus is harmless and mutant, there is no need to panic.
According to hospital sources, the woman was admitted to General Medicine's female ward. During a medical examination, it was discovered that she had Covid-19.
In the meantime, the district administration has increased monitoring and readiness in response to the discovery of the Covid-19 instance.Patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) are required by health authorities to undergo Covid-19 testing. At MKCG MCH, standard surveillance involves testing five percent of patients who come with symptoms like fever, cough, and cold.
