No city in Odisha has had temperatures below 10°C in the past 24 hours, indicating that the winter cold that had been plaguing the state for a few days has subsided. Nonetheless, chilly weather is still present in several areas of western and southern Odisha; the Kandhamal district is still plagued by thick fog and bitter cold.
After two days, the Regional Met Department has predicted another drop in temperature. Although Odisha was not directly affected by Cyclone Ditwah, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada are predicted to see mild rain today.
Kandhamal Is Still Shivering
Compared to the majority of the state, Kandhamal is still much colder. The district has regularly recorded temperatures below 15°C since early November, with multiple days falling below 10°C.
The district reported gloomy skies, thick fog, and almost little visibility on Monday; sunshine didn't show up until after eight in the morning. Daily life has been affected by the severe weather, especially traffic movement because of low visibility. The area still draws visitors who want to feel the winter cold despite the cold spell.
Winter in Twin Cities Is Mild
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on the other hand, experienced comparatively warmer weather with little effect from the cold wave. Districts like Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur continue to experience the cooler weather.
Due to the persistent cold and fog, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for fog in these areas.
Temperature Trend Modified by Cyclone Ditwah
In some areas of Odisha, Cyclone Ditwah's impact resulted in a brief increase in temperature. However, nighttime temperatures are predicted to drop once again when the system's lingering impacts fade, potentially to 3–4°C in some places later this week, according to officials.
Only a few southern areas are anticipated to have little rainfall; the remainder of the state is predicted to stay dry.
