The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on Monday cancelled the Combined Recruitment Examination (CRE) previously held on April 27. The commission announced that the SI exam will be held again on July 6
“Fresh examination will be conducted on 06.07.2025,” the Commission said.
Commission once again regretted the inconvenience caused to the applicants because of the error and conveyed best wishes to all the aspirants for the examination now scheduled on July 6.
Notably, candidates are advised to be in constant touch with the website of the Commission www.ossc.gov.in for further updates in the matter.
Backlash over 'wrong syllabus'
The Main Written Exam for SI Excise and SI Traffic OMVD was held on April 27 (Sunday) at 115 centres spread over 30 districts of Odisha. However, OSSC faced backlash later in the day after SI exams were found to have used the ‘wrong syllabus’.
OSSC had earlier admitted to this ‘serious fault’ in the examination process. The commission also apologised for the oversight and considered alternative solutions, with suggestions sought from all stakeholders by May 4.
The examination, held for candidates aspiring to become Excise and Traffic Sub-Inspectors, was found to contain questions exclusively from the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) syllabus, according to complaints from examinees. This has caused considerable frustration among the candidates as such discrepancies were unforeseen in key exams.
