"Retired Andre Russell Still Better Than Rs 25 Crore Cameron Green" : Mohammad Kaif

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season's dismal start can be attributed to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Knight Riders are at the bottom of the T20 league's 10-team points table after five games, zero victories, and just one point due to a washed-out match. The main issue, according to a veteran Indian cricketer, is KKR's auction approach, particularly in light of their choice to let West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell retire from the IPL. Cameron Green of Australia was subsequently purchased by the management at the auction for an unprecedented INR 25.20 crore.
But the Knight Riders have hardly utilised Green as a bowler."KKR's biggest error this season was probably hiring Andre Russell as coach instead of using him as an all-around player. It hasn't worked to keep him in the KKR dugout and prevent other teams from purchasing him at auction. He's still a better all-around player than Cameron Green, who costs Rs 25 crore. "The solution is clear," Kaif wrote on X, which was formerly Twitter.
Regarding KKR's Free-Fall, Ajinkya Rahane
Captain Ajinkya Rahane didn't mind disparaging the team's batting unit after the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by a decisive 32 runs in Chennai.Rahane also acknowledged that although KKR had a set lineup going into the match, the team's continuous losing streak has forced him and the management to consider other choices.
"In terms of combinations, I believe the one we used in the previous game was excellent. I believe it's difficult right now. Yes, it's difficult; we're not winning games. As a group, it's critical that we maintain our optimism, keep our heads up, keep our chins up, and simply concentrate on the here and now. We will need to consider the combinations while sitting in the dressing room. Any adjustments will need to be made. When you bat with the players and the outcome is favourable, it's OK.However, you will need to consider the mix if the outcomes are not favourable. Aside from that, though, I felt it was all about staying upbeat and optimistic," he continued.
