To add insult to injury, an anonymous Pakistani player was reported and later punished for misbehaving with a female staff member during their stay at a hotel in Kandy, Sri Lanka, for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup matches, according to a news source on Thursday. According to Telecom Asia Sport, a Pakistan World Cup squad member misbehaved with a female housekeeping staff member prior to their last Super 8 match against Sri Lanka.
According to team sources, the hotel workers rescued the employee and reported the incident to Pakistan team manager Navaid Cheema when she shouted for help.The upper management of Golden Crown Hotel wanted the incident to be dealt with harshly, but Cheema apologised on behalf of the player and fined him for misbehaviour," said Telecom Asia Sport in the article.
Despite winning that match by five runs, Pakistan was unable to advance to the semifinals due to a low net run rate and returned home in batches on Sunday and Monday.
The aforementioned player is also expected to come before the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) disciplinary committee and face additional punishment.According to the research, Pakistani players and backroom staff have a history of wrongdoing while on tour.
