The first Sri Lankan woman to score 4,000 runs in an ODI is Chamari Athapaththu.

After hitting 46 runs against Bangladesh in the 21st match of the ongoing Women's World Cup 2025, captain Chamari Athapaththu became the first and only female cricket player from Sri Lanka to reach the 4000-run milestone in ODIs on Monday. Athapaththu won the toss and chose to bat first when Sri Lanka and Bangladesh faced off at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Monday. She opened the team's lineup and got off to a strong start before being removed by Rabeya Khan for a 43-ball 46.
The 35-year-old reached a noteworthy milestone by reaching 4000 ODI runs, but failing to reach a half-century.

With 2029 ODI runs, Shashikala Siriwardene is second on the list of players with the most runs in the format, however no other Sri Lankan female cricketer comes close to matching her accomplishment.
When the Lankan captain took the pitch against Bangladesh, she was only one run away from accomplishing the feat. She also became the 20th batter overall and only the fourth Asian to reach 4,000 runs in Women's ODIs.

"HISTORY WAS MADE! We extend our sincere congratulations to Chamari Athapaththu, our trailblazer, who became the first hitter from Sri Lanka and only the fourth batter from Asia to reach the 4,000-run milestone in One-Day Internationals! She currently holds the record for Sri Lanka's most ODI caps as well.
For Athapaththu and her girls, the current World Cup match against Bangladesh is a must-win, do-or-die match as they try to advance to the semi-final.
Five teams—India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan—are vying for the final slot in the top four, with three teams—South Africa, England, and Australia—having already secured their places.
Lanka would be eliminated from the competition if they lost to Bangladesh.
On their official X handle, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) complimented their captain on adding another feather to her already impressive cap.
