According to the most recent flood data released by the Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS), Assam, the flood situation in the state remained dire on Friday, affecting 7.21 lakh people in 11 districts.
Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Charaideo, Kamrup, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Hojai, and Kamrup (Metro) are the districts impacted. The floods continue to damage over 900 settlements.
Sivasagar has the most number of impacted residents (3,92,195), followed by Charaideo (1,10,755), Jorhat (97,690), and Dibrugarh (13,390). 24,897.27 hectares of agricultural land in the state have been inundated by floodwaters.
According to the report, 487 aid camps and distribution centers have been established, comprising 381 relief distribution centers and 106 relief camps.Six people have died in the past twenty-four hours.
Livestock has also been severely hit by the floodwaters, with 1,38,965 animals harmed and 540 animals—including 500 poultry birds—reportedly washed away.
Five main rivers are flowing above the danger level, according to the study. These include the Disang River at Nanglamuraghat, which is flowing over its Highest Flood Level (HFL), the Burhidihing at Chenimari (Khowang), Dikhou at Sivasagar, Dhansiri (South) at Numaligarh, and Kushiyara at Sribhumi.
111 medical teams, 56 boats, and 8,409 persons and 35 animals have been evacuated as part of ongoing relief and rescue efforts throughout the impacted districts.
Additionally, one IAF helicopter has been sent out for rescue missions.
