On Monday, the 15th International Sand Art Festival and the 36th Konark Festival will begin at Chandrabhaga Beach, celebrating Odisha's famed sand artistry and classical dance traditions. Together with the Subhadra Shakti Mela, which is making its debut this year, both festivities will run through December 5.
The festival will be opened by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
The outdoor stage is expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Tourism Minister Pravati Parida. The Puri District Collector attested to the completion of all preparations and the ongoing final inspections.
During the five-day Konark Festival, Odissi will be performed every evening by artists from all over India. Renowned dancers and troupes honoring Odisha's ancient heritage will perform on the stage, which is backed by the famous Sun Temple.
Sand Art Festival: 14 States, 5 Countries, 243 Artists
243 artists from 14 Indian states and five international nations will have their work on display at this year's International Sand Art Festival. There will be 34 stalls with exhibits.
"Artists from national and international backgrounds are going to participate," stated renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik. Along with 14 artists from Indian states and participation from 29 districts of Odisha, participating nations include Japan, Russia, Spain, and Sri Lanka.
The debut of Subhadra Shakti Mela
The location will host the Subhadra Shakti Mela for the first time, with 200 vendors. A diverse range of handicrafts and traditional goods will be displayed by women from Mission Shakti organizations and craftspeople from all around Odisha.Huge Safety and Visitor Experience Preparations
Dibya Jyoti Parida, Puri Collector and District Magistrate, stated that comprehensive preparations have been made at every location, with a particular emphasis on visitor comfort, crowd control, and safety.
Larger parking places have been set up, and numerous areas have been decorated. Structural, electrical, and fire safety precautions are required. There are now 50 CCTV cameras installed, plus an extra 25 in the Meena Bazaar area. Mohan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, will also take part, he added.
Lots of Visitors Anticipated
Preparations are almost finished, according to Odisha Tourism Director Deepankar Mohapatra.
The 36th Konark Dance Festival and the 15th International Sand Art Festival are anticipated to draw large crowds. The festivities will go on from December 1 to December 5, just like they do every year, he said.
