Sachin Tendulkar is the sole "God" in the cricket world, but veteran Indian player Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes that 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has the potential to be a "Demi-God." Ajit Agarkar, the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee, was encouraged by Srikkanth, who has been an outspoken supporter of the Rajasthan Royals opening batsman's national selection, to expedite Sooryavanshi's inclusion in the Indian squad.
Indeed, Srikkanth, who played for India in the 1983 World Cup under Kapil Dev, thinks Sooryavanshi ought to have been included in the national team for the T20 World Cup this year."Imagine someone playing such shots as Sooryavanshi. That boy is just exceptional and intelligent. I'm telling you, Ajit, you must expedite him. He ought to play in the upcoming series. This is what I've been saying since last year. His inclusion in the T20 World Cup team should have been expedited. Srikkanth told The Week, "He doesn't have to be in the XI right away; first, let him be in the 15, understand the environment, and get a feel for international cricket."
"Sooryavanshi ought to be expedited, in my opinion. "Give him time, let him be consistent" is not an option. Not a chance. You can win matches with that man. Imagine that he smacks Bumrah for a six on the opening ball.
The legendary Sachin Tendulkar was only sixteen years old when Srikkanth, who has also captained the Indian national team, led him in 1989. According to Srikkanth, Sooryavanshi might become the "Demi-God of Cricket," just as Tendulkar's early entry to the Indian squad helped him become the "God of Cricket."
"Sachin Tendulkar, at 16 years old, was a prodigy when I took over as captain in 1989. He is now known as the God of Cricket. In a similar vein, he said, "This boy could very well become the next 'Demi-God' of cricket."
Sooryavanshi is reportedly on the shortlist that the Agarkar-led selection committee has created for the tour of Ireland following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
