According to Union Steel Minister H D Kumaraswamy, the Center has given an ex gratia of ₹25 lakh for the families of each worker killed in the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (Vizag Steel Plant) accident, in addition to permanent employment for one family member and other assistance measures.
Eight workers were killed and six others were injured on Monday night when a powerful explosion occurred at the plant's Steel Melt Shop-1 during casting operations using molten steel. A huge fire was started by the explosion.
Investigations concerning the accident's cause have been started by RINL authorities.Every deceased employee, whether regular or outsourced, would receive ₹25 lakh ex gratia from us.Kumaraswamy visited the RINL accident scene with Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and Vizag MP M Sribharat.
The union steel minister sent his condolences to the families of the eight workers who perished in the disaster.
In addition to statutory benefits like insurance, provident fund, gratuity, and other entitlements owed to the victims' families, he said, the compensation package would be provided.
Kumaraswamy claims that the family of the deceased will be permitted to stay in the steel factory quarters until the employees' fictitious superannuation date.He stated that children of the deceased would be permitted to continue their education on an equal basis with RINL (Vizag Steel Plant) employees, and family members who lived outside the township would also be given quarters according to their entitlement if they so desired.
Kumaraswamy pledged ₹10 lakh in compensation for workers with severe injuries and stated that RINL would cover all medical costs.
The union minister reassured workers that the Center was still dedicated to the revitalisation and expansion of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and urged them not to panic.He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed sorrow over the incident and declared that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund would provide ₹50,000 for the injured and ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of each worker who died.
