Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to arrive in New Delhi on Thursday for a summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with an emphasis on economic and defence cooperation.

PM Modi and President Putin had five phone discussions in 2025 after meeting earlier this year on the fringes of the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting in Tianjin, China, on September 1.
Several agreements are anticipated to be signed during the 23rd India-Russia Summit, which is slated for Friday. The sectors expected to be covered are trade, economy, healthcare, academics, culture, and media. In light of the severe decline in India's relations with the US, the visit's overarching objective is to strengthen the two countries' strategic and economic alliance.
While Putin will arrive in New Delhi on Tuesday evening, the main engagement of the visit will be on Friday when he will meet PM Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House.
President Vladimir Putin's program for the India visit
On Thursday at around 6:35 PM, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to arrive at the Palam Air Force Station in Delhi. He will have an official photo session followed by a special dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Because of security concerns, the location of Putin's visit has not been disclosed.
President Droupadi Murmu will give a ceremonial reception for President Putin at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 5.
At around 11:30 AM, he will travel from Rashtrapati Bhawan to Rajghat to lay a wreath in Mahatma Gandhi's honor.At around 3:40 PM, President Putin is scheduled to attend a business gathering, the location of which has not yet been revealed.
Putin will meet with President Droupadi Murmu in Rashtrapati Bhawan at approximately 7 PM, and he will return to Moscow at 9 PM.
