Since its October 2 release, Rishab Shetty's Kantara 1 has established itself as one of the highest-grossing pictures of the year. Kantara 1 had a free run at the box office because there were no significant releases for two weeks. After completing 14 days, the film minted a remarkable Rs 485.40 crore across all languages.
Dubbed versions of the Kannada movie were released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi; Hindi has so far contributed about Rs 160 crore to the total. After Tamil releases like Dude and Bison and Hindi Diwali films like Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, the question now is: Will Kantara 1 maintain its dominance on the box office?Taran Adarsh and Komal Nahta concurred that the new releases will have an effect on Kantara 1's business. Rasmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana's Diwali release may result in fewer screens for Rishab Shetty's picture, which is rapidly approaching Rs 500 crore at the Indian box office. The number of screens that Kantara 1 keeps during the next week will determine how well it does.
Komal Nahta, a trade analyst, stated, "I think Kantara 1 will mint Rs 175-200 crore in Hindi till Diwali, while the total collection will reach somewhere around Rs 450-470 crore (net)."
The Buzz About Thamma
Maddock Films' newest film, Thamma, is now accepting advance reservations. October 21 is the movie's release date. It is an addition to the horror-comedy world including last year's biggest hit: Stree 2, along with Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
"Thamma's momentum is rapidly increasing. Sales of tickets got off to a great start, and both tier-2 and metro areas are enjoying consistent growth. This Diwali, audiences are obviously anticipating a big-screen performer," stated Ashish Saxena, COO-Cinems, BookMyShow.
PVR Inox Pictures is the distributor of Thamma. August Entertainment is its distributor-partner in the Mumbai circuit. A Bollywood Hungama story claims that the distribution company demanded a "no-sharing" provision in an email. "They have requested that all shows be shown in theatres with one or two screens. According to the article, they have also requested 12 shows in three-screen multiplexes, which entails 100% showcasing on two of the three screens and one or two shows on the third screen.
The creators of Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are at odds over this no-sharing condition. Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa play the main parts in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which was directed by Milap Zaveri.
